Love supporting community groups like Maungakiekie songbird

At Envirotools our staff love supporting community groups across NZ. In September we were up in Auckland to assist Maungakiekie Songbird, a central Auckland conservation project now into its 4th year of operation. Creating a halo around Maungakiekie/One tree hill, the project supplies halo residents with a wide range of resources including pest control/trapping (both our Flipping Timmy possum trap and our Supervisor Max rodent trap), enhancement tools like bird feeders, weta motels and supply of native trees and shrubs. This project is an exceptional example of locals engaging to protect and enable wildlife to flourish in their neighborhood and local surrounds.

Manning the trap stand we really enjoyed speaking to all the locals, with an estimated 200 residents attending the open day. Some young Tamariki were even keen to set up their own mini groups, trapping the houses on their street. That is exactly what we want to encourage with our traps not only rat and mice/possum exterminators, but also learning tools that spark curiosity, and which will keep them hooked and longtime trappers!

Thank you, Iain Hook and the team from Maungakiekie Songbird, for all the work you put in, along with your key partners of Cornwall Park Trust Board and Tūpuna Maunga Authority.
